So, this week has been no joke so far! I just keep thinking about how great a mini vacation would be, but realistically between my schedule and my hubby's schedule, there is really no way we'll fit anything in besides a quality movie marathon this weekend!
I'd like to try and pretend that working on the 10-15 page paper for my Master's Criminal Law class is stressing me out, but really it's the fact that I'm totally not working on it that is making me worry a bit. Not that worrying is giving me the motivation to start it, I just keep thinking about how if I put it off until Sunday (when it is due) I'll work really hard since I won't have any other choice! Wish me luck with that, just having a tad bit more motivation than procrastination would be pretty nifty right now.
My husband calls me pretty much every day around lunch time to just check in and I've felt kinda bad this week because I'm pretty sure I've just been one big bummer or stress case whenever he calls. I'm slowly learning my lesson about taking on too many collateral jobs on top of my Supervisor duties and I'm pretty sure I might have a Prego-zilla moment at work at some point before Friday afternoon. The good news is...today is Back and Bicep day at the gym!!
I have a confession, my name is Christina and I'm addicted to cardio.
Over the last few years I've become quite the little runner, I usually sign up for at least one race every few months to keep up my training and keep things interesting. Of course, the baby has put a little bit of a damper on that since now he pretty much just bounces on my bladder the whole time. I've switched to this fabulous new elliptical that they just installed at the base gym and I try to keep things fresh by just starting my workout with whatever program it has featured on it's nifty HD screen when I climb on. I usually get about 45 minutes to an hour in on that and then I move on to weights. The hubby is always trying to motivate me to lift heavier and try new things, so instead of my old program or the CrossFit that I started right before getting pregnant, I've been doing Jamie Eason's training program off of bodybuilding.com for the last month or so. It can be found here: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-eason-livefit-trainer.html.
Her whole program includes tips, food planning and the workouts and it is pretty great for everyone, from newbies to more experienced lifters. The issue I have when I go is usually that if I am alone I don't push myself as hard as I should. That is typically the case on every day except two, Back and Biceps and Legs day. I loooooooove those days, you can feel so sexy and strong working on getting a sculpted back and seeing any resemblance of muscle in your arms. Legs day is always my most favorite, my legs are actually pretty strong and I love seeing the numbers that I am working with get higher and higher. You should see the looks on the faces of people when I set up the Hack Squat machine with my big old belly popping out! I had one guy tell me that I was going to go into labor that way (totally not true, btw...). So, I'm pretty excited to go today after work and get a good, strong workout in.
I think I'm going to start a new tab for just workouts that I get in, I think it's really important for more women to know that it is totally acceptable to keep a solid workout program while they are pregnant. Even though I might whine a lot about the various aches and pains that my little man causes, this pregnancy really has been a breeze compared to some that I have heard of and I feel totally lucky that I have such a great support system when it comes to continuing to maintain my goals.
Time to get back to my homework, *cough, look around suspiciously*, I mean my very important work for my job, and be productive. I'm hoping to try a new recipe tonight to shake up Steak and Sweet Potatoes, more on that to come!! Maybe I'll try this recipe for parmesean sweet potatoes I have on my Food board on Pinterest, they look pretty delish! http://www.teeniecakes.com/2010/12/roasted-parmesan-sweet-potatoes/
