Strep Throat and Sea Animals

Hey friends! If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook, you've probably seen that a) we have officially decided to homeschool and b) Ryker has had strep throat and a ruptured eardrum for the past few days.

Part of me feels almost negligent for not having started Ryker on more planned and focused material earlier, because he is just so eager and so excited each day. We've been practicing our routine and getting work done each day for a little over a month now, and while most days are wonderful and productive, we've definitely had our fair share of frustration and useless afternoons so far, haha!

Ryker and Cora are both very active and they look forward to our days at the gym just as much as I do because they get to run around, climb, and play with other kids for two hours. They each have their little best friends there, and it killed me when he was too exhausted and too sick to be able to play for a few days last week. But, he was up for doing some worksheets and lots of reading in bed, so that's what we did!

Luckily, I had been in contact with Shannon, over at Education.com, and she was able to shoot over a fun little maze for Ryker to work on, he LOVES mazes. It's almost unfair to even give him mazes meant for children anymore because they take him next to no time at all! We paired this Sea Creatures Maze with our Under the Sea book, to help him practice reading, and he wants to work on cutting out shapes to do some art work to go along with the theme!

I think our homeschool style will definitely use a lot of unit and theme studies, because he likes to pick a subject and really dive into it. Envelope your child with Sea Creatures as they work on their critical thinking skills with this fun maze! Gather more preschool resources from Education.com. I'll be introducing more of their preschool work to Cora soon, and I'm going to let Ryker peruse the website with me for some activities to supplement his day!
